Hello I'm Jan Vansteenlandt
Jan Vansteenlandt has been active in the Open Data movement since 2011, has a data start-up and keeps track of anything data, including (Linked) Open Data.
Open Data has been introduced to the public around 2004, since then technical attempts have been made to facilitate entities to open up data in a way that's mostly tied to PSI directives. This is sufficient to appeal to legislature but far from sufficient to appeal to developers. This session will cover the reasons why Open Data is actually way older than we think, why it hasn't seen large uptake and how we can change that by drawing an analogy with the private sector. A session about how private and public are doing the same thing, but should be doing something different at the same time. This will be a session where a state of the art will be given after which we’ll leave it to the panel to discuss certain points.
